Compulsory Third Party insurance | Green Slip NSW

What is Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance?

CTP insurance (also known as a ‘Green Slip’ in NSW) provides cover for injuries that you might cause to other road users as a result of a motor vehicle accident that is your fault. This cover operates Australia-wide and extends to anyone else that might drive your vehicle. As the name suggests, CTP is compulsory and must be purchased before you can register your vehicle in NSW.

What does CTP insurance cover?

		Injuries caused to your passengers.
		Injuries caused to other road users such as drivers and passengers of other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, motor cyclists and pillion passengers.
		Injuries caused through the use of a trailer.
		Damage caused to property including other vehicles.
		Injuries sustained by you or any other driver of your vehicle*

*If you are not the driver at fault in an accident, however, you may be entitled to claim against the at fault driver’s CTP policy for any injuries you sustain.

At Fault Driver Protection insurance

CTP insurance in NSW does not provide any compensation for injuries sustained by the driver that is at fault in a motor vehicle accident. Allianz Green Slips, however, come with a bonus At Fault Driver Protection insurance policy that provides eligible drivers with up to $250,000 worth of cover for serious injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident that is your fault. This additional cover is provided for extra peace of mind at no extra cost.
