Security of our members’ funds and information is important to us. In setting up internet banking we have employed a range of security measures from firewalls to data encryption, to ensure your personal information is fully protected.
Teachers Credit Union has implemented leading firewall technology to protect all our computer systems and members’ information against intrusion. These systems are monitored for suspicious activity by a major security consultancy group. The group we use has considerable experience implementing and designing secure systems for many organisations, including financial institutions and defence organisations.
We also subscribe to services that advise on new threats and provide patches and upgrades to keep systems secure and current.
Teachers Credit Union has also employed a technology called Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to establish a secure connection between your browser and our internet banking system.
There are some simple precautions you can take to maximise security:
- Change your access code regularly. We recommend that you change it at least every month. Do not use date of birth, telephone number and addresses.
- Do not disclose your access code to anyone, including family members.
- Always log out after using internet banking. To do this, select the ‘Log out’ button.
- Never leave your computer unattended while logged onto internet banking
- If other people can access your computer you should set your browser not to cache secure web pages, so that there will be no record of your account information left on your computer
- Ensure that current anti-virus software is running on your computer at all times and is regularly updated.
-
Register for a security token and SMS security
For further information about how to use the internet in a safe manner see our Online Security section or go to www.staysmartonline.gov.au
Any changes to our website or internet banking service are tested on Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS ystems. They represent the majority of operating systems in use by our members that are still actively supported and updated by their respective vendors. Please see our system guidelines for more information.
To obtain a new access code you must either apply in writing, including your member number and signature, or contact us by phone or web chat and answer some identification questions.
