Donate to Haiti appeal

27 January 2010

As members would be aware, Haiti suffered a massive earthquake recently, followed by several aftershocks. Hundreds of thousands of Haitians have been killed or injured, and countless homes and infrastructure in Port-au-Prince and surrounds have been destroyed.

According to aid agencies up to three million people have been affected and many surviving victims have nowhere to live, and little food or water to survive on. Supplies from relief agencies are starting to get through, but clearly much more will be needed.

The CUFA (Credit Union Foundation of Australia) Haiti Earthquake Appeal funds will go towards helping this already poor country rebuild, and WOCCU (World Council of Credit Unions) will nominate relief agencies to receive the funds. All contributions over two dollars are tax deductible.

You can donate online, or send a cheque payable to CUFA, for CUFA Haiti Earthquake Appeal, to GPO Box 4720, Sydney NSW 2001.

If you wish to show your support for Haiti, please consider contributing to this appeal. To enable funds to be quickly directed to the Haiti people in need, this appeal will finish on 5 February 2010.

Teachers Credit Union has donated funds to WOCCU and will consider making a further donation to assist Haitian victims.
