Your access code
Tips for selecting and using your internet banking access code:
Selecting your access code
- It should be between 4 and 16 characters and can contain numbers, letters and symbols
- Don’t use English or foreign language dictionary words, names of people, pets, sports teams, postcodes, phone numbers, birthdays or any other easily identifiable information
- Don’t use an access code that you use for another service
- Memorise your access code
Using your access code
- Ensure that you are not observed when entering your access code
- Never disclose it to anyone, including family members or our staff. We will never ask for your access code or PIN
- Destroy the letter advising you of your temporary access code
- Change your access code regularly
- Don’t write it down, or record it within a file stored on your computer, mobile phone or other device
- Don’t use the ‘Save my password or details’ option in your browser
- Always log out by using the Log Out button and don’t close your sessions by using the ‘X’ in the top right hand corner of your screen
- If you suspect that someone else knows your access code, change it immediately, through the Other menu in internet banking
